HOD 's Message

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established from the inception of the college. The Department offers UG and PG programs with specialization of Computer Science &Engineering. The course offers a deep insight into the discipline and empowers promising engineers with required skills for a successful career in Computer Science & Engineering. The department has excellent infrastructure and is well equipped with modern laboratories. The department has highly qualified, experienced, dedicated and motivated faculty with industry and research background.

UG-Program

B.E. Computer Science and Engineering

Course Duration: 4 Years after PUC (8 Semesters).

3 Years after Diploma (Lateral entry-6 Semesters).

Course Highlights

The Department of Computer Science &Engineering following the curriculum of VTU to meet the industry requirements and alsoto prepare the students for further studies. Course contents are delivered in highly conducive environment having spacious classrooms. Faculty members are actively involved in engaging students in curricular/co-curricular/Extra-Curricular activities. Resource persons from industry and academia are invited to deliver guest lectures.The few recent technology courses like cloud computing, big data, Artificial intelligence etc makes the students to motivate them to pursue their higher studies in India and abroad. Highlights of Laboratories

Department offers fully equipped computer labs with seating for up to 30 students in each lab. These are dedicated labs which are ideal for conducting all the course labs, projects, research activities and new application training. All these Computers are run on different operating system like windows 2000, xp, window 7 and Linux, with the applications including the Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and various media players. These machines also feature host-based firewall, and virus scanning software.A strategic, periodic maintenance and stock verification is done to upgrade the lab as per the changing requirements. To support online teaching, the lab is facilitated with LCD projector and Wi-Fi connectivity with drop-down screens. All systems are having power back up of 3 hours with sufficientKW of UPS facility.

Relevance of
Computer Science and Engineering

Computer science and engineering is the study of the theoretical foundations of information and computation, and of practical techniques for their implementation and application in computer systems. It is frequently described as the systematic study of algorithmic processes that create, describe, and transform information. Computer science is one of the fastest growing branches of studies which are being carried out all over the world. It is one of the most developing and in demand trades of engineering fields.Computer Science& Engineering includes study of various aspects of computer to meet the requirements of the various industries. The course contains study of the basic computer sciences and its application, as well as the detailed study of the various aspects of its working. This course trains an individual in the fields related to computer and its industrial applications.

The hardware and networking part lets students find jobs in aspects of product design and maintenance, database management, system-security and networking, server management etc.

  • Application development - The development of the mobile phone and distinct operating systems has opened a whole new world of employment opportunities to not just engineers but anyone with a keen eye for design and detail. In the war of the operating systems we see applications, popularly known as 'apps' being designed. These apps cover topics from news and media, personal finance, weather and the biggest revenue-generator games. 'Angry Games' has been the most popular mobile game in the past few years and it single-handedly changed the fortunes of its company Rovio Inc.
  • Animation and graphic design are also allied job-roles that students with a keen interest for drawing and sketching and creative minds can apply. Note an engineering degree is not mandatory for these roles and students with a keen interest in animation-art and cartoons get drawn into these roles.
  • Software Testing has become practically a sub-domain of its own with more and more private institutions offering courses in software and product testing. A strong grasp of programming languages, user interface design and software architecture are requisite for students to seek a career in software testing.
  • Cyber-security - With more and more transactions going online and the rise of online shopping portals and electronic money transfers; the risk of transaction passwords being stolen, secure databases being hacked and identity thefts are not just plots from movies but very scarily real and possible. Ethical hacking and cyber-security courses are highly popular and trained cyber-security experts with an engineering degree in computer science can command a good salary.
  • Product design - They blend simplicity and ease of use with cutting-edge technology inside them. All major technology firms invest heavily in research and development and they are continuously innovating to make ‘the next big thing’. Computer science engineers with a specialization in hardware technology and design have a great career path ahead in IT Product Design. Salaries vary based on the years of experience and specific domain expertise of the applicant. Students who pass out as fresh computer science engineering graduates and get hired as 'Trainee Engineers' get paid between Rs 2.25 and Rs 3 lakhs per annum as starting pay-packages. This value also varies from company to company and most companies hiring on campus include a 'job clause' that students should work for at least two years with the company.
  • Postscript-In today's competitive world it is extremely important that students keep themselves updated of the changes taking place in the world of technology and have good communication skills. Students should exude confidence and learn to write and speak effectively in English. A clear communication style and relevant domain-specific knowledge help students find a good job in the IT-industry. Significant Prooject

There are13 UG Projects and 13 PG projects in the academic year 2016.The project exhibition were organized in the campus on 11-05-2016, where the students exhibited the Projects. Three projects are chosen as the best projects by the committee members 1. Efficient user privacy protection in geo-social applications. 2.Big data and the sp theory of intelligence. 3.Architecting Wireless Sensor Mesh Networks for Connected Home & Home Security using Raspberry pi B+ and Zigbee

The department has subject’s experts in various domains. The university syllabus is framed in different perspective of various domains which is both industry and research oriented. The faculty members are exceled not only in core subjects, but also in different electives which motivated them to choose it as their area of research.
